George - sock monkey cup cozy pattern
( The pattern was free on Ravelry, it's called "George - sock monkey cup cozy" by Alejandra Quiroz, but I can't link to it. You have to register )
But...
This is "loosely" how you do it.....
I would CO *37 stitches using four size 4 dpn's
knit ST in the round for 10 rows
on the 11th row, I'd do four equal increases (k1, f/b, knit 9, repeat all the way round) something like that.
*The color changes are up to you...
Then do more ST stitches till you have a 3 in tall tube.
B O Loosely.
*This is how I modified the ears.
Lay your cozy down flat, and pick up 7 stitches on each side...evenly at the point of the first color change....or where ever you think they look cute! (So you don't have to knit them and then sew them on)

Use duplicate stitches to add some red to the mouth, buttons for eyes......
* To add a tail, pick up 4 stitches in the back close to the bottom, or where ever you like, and make an I-cord, change colors for the last 3 rows, BO kinda tight.
